
The Lady Norsemen wrestling team delivered an outstanding performance at the IHSAA Girls Wrestling Sectionals, finishing 4th overall scoring 122.5 Team Points and advancing six wrestlers to Regionals.
Sectional Champions
- Freshman Emerson Zwiebel (100 lbs) – 1st Place, 3-0 record (26 pts)
Zwiebel dominated her bracket, winning by forfeit in the quarterfinals, pinning Elizabeth Reyes in 1:18 during the semifinals, and sealing the title with a lightning-fast 40-second pin over Roselyn Gonzalez in the finals. - Junior Amarah Frieden (140 lbs) – 1st Place, 3-0 record (25.5 pts)
Frieden opened with a 56-second pin, followed by a technical fall (15-0) in the semifinals, and capped her run with a 1:52 pin in the championship match. - Freshman Izabella Schultz (190 lbs) – 1st Place, 3-0 record (26 pts)
Schultz advanced with a forfeit, then pinned Claire Baines in 46 seconds, and secured the title with a 1:36 pin over Layne Mercedes.
Other Regional Qualifiers
- Junior Olia Leffert (130 lbs) – 3rd Place, 3-1 record (17 pts)
After an early loss, Leffert stormed back with three consecutive pins, including a decisive 1:00 fall in the 3rd-place match. - Junior Fiona Schnelker (125 lbs) – 4th Place, 2-2 record (14 pts)
Schnelker earned two pins, including a 1:20 quarterfinal fall, before finishing 4th. - Freshman Sheila Smith (145 lbs) – 4th Place, 2-2 record (14 pts)
Smith picked up two wins by forfeit and battled hard in the placement rounds.
