Results from Oak Hill for Wednesday, January 7th.
The boys continued their undefeated season tonight against the Huskies. We competed hard and showed great effort with 9 personal best swims. We also ended the night with 8 first place swims and 6 second place swims. I thought tonight was a big step for these guys. Swimming and diving in back to back meets to start the first week back at school after break is tough work. Bodies are sore and tired. They rose to the challenge and had some outstanding swims. Tonight’s breakout performance goes to Eli Gardner. His two individual events were season best times and he lowered his 500 by 4 seconds. I was also really impressed by Gavin Key’s 100 breaststroke. Gavin lowered his season best time by almost 3 seconds. Way to compete tonight boys! Tonight’s first place swims: 200 Medley Relay (Cael McCann, Evan Bledsoe, Cooper McQuiston, Braylon Carey) Cooper McQuiston (200 free and 100 free) Cael McCann (100 fly and 100 back) Eli Gardner (500 free) 200 Free Relay (Cael McCann, Braylon Carey, Evan Bledsoe, Cooper McQuiston) Evan Bledsoe (100 breast) Oak Hill Boys Varsity vs Hamilton Heights High School (114 – 71) Win
The Lady eagles swam very well tonight. The diving depth from the Huskies and a few close races proved too much for the Oak Hill girls to overcome. We ended up with 10 new season best swims and also took 4 first places and 8 second places. I was thrilled with how fast they swam. Swimming in back to back meets to start the first week back at school is tough. The girls are sore and tired from winter training and school starting up, and yet they continue to drop time and show up big. They should all be very proud of their effort. Tonight’s breakout performance goes to Quinn Brunner. Quinn lowered her personal best in the 500 by 7 seconds. I was also excited to watch Addison Carey continue to lower her 100 free time and improve her backstroke in the relay and individual event. Great job tonight ladies! Tonight’s first place swims: 200 Medley Relay (Addison Carey, Savannah Hunt, Bella Kenyon, June Burtner) June Burtner (50 free) Addison Carey (100 free) Savannah Hunt (100 breast) Oak Hill Girls Varsity vs Hamilton Heights High School (80 – 102) Loss
