Northfield High School junior Amarah Frieden delivered a strong performance at the 2026 IHSAA Girls Wrestling State Finals, earning an 8th‑place finish at 140 pounds.
Frieden entered the tournament with a 26–8 season record and now holds 64 career victories, adding to a résumé that already included qualification for the 2025 State Finals.
She opened the championship with a dominant performance, securing a first‑period fall in 1:39 over Quiara Lathan (Connersville) in the Round of 16. Frieden advanced to the quarterfinals where she faced undefeated Penn standout Maddie Marsh, who earned the fall in :53.
In the consolation rounds, Frieden wrestled senior Madalyn McCarty (Mt. Vernon), falling by technical fall (16‑0, 5:00). In the 7th‑place match, she met Wawasee’s Kenidi Nine, who earned the fall at 2:13. With her 8th‑place finish, Frieden secured a coveted position on the IHSAA state podium, marking a significant achievement during her junior season and a defining moment for Northfield Wrestling.
