Manchester Tennis Sweeps Maconaquah

The Manchester girls tennis team defeated TRC foe Maconaquah, 5-0, Thursday, April 23.

The Squire singles players gave up just nine games while the No. 1 doubles team threw a shutout. The No. 2 doubles team won a come-from-behind match in impressive fashion.

In singles play, Myla Crozier won, 6-2, 6-3, while Bethany Penrod had no trouble in a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles, and Chace Blevins cruised to a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles.
The No. 1 doubles team of Kait Schroll and Lexie Nichols ran away with a 6-0,6-0, and at No. 2 doubles, Ruby Martin and Tallulah Gawthrop came from behind to win a 6-7 (5), 6-4, 6-3 win to clinch the sweep.
In JV play, Ana Hasund won a singles match, 8-1, then teamed with Clare D’Andrea for a win in the only JV doubles match, 8-4.

D’Andrea lost her JV singles match, 8-0.
The Squires are scheduled to host TRC and county rival, Southwood Friday evening, April 24, but with potential inclement weather, the teams would play Saturday morning, April 25, at 10 a.m.
