The Manchester Lady Squires traveled to Huntington North last night for another tough battle in the heat. Despite showing tremendous heart and effort throughout the night, the Squires fell to the Vikings, 6-1.
Huntington North struck first and built a 2-0 lead, but Manchester continued to battle. Just before halftime, Aeryn Klose broke through the Viking defense and finished a solo goal to cut the deficit to 2-1 heading into the break.
The Squires came out strong in the second half, challenging every 50/50 ball, fighting for possession, and continuing to create opportunities. Manchester kept battling until the final whistle but was unable to find the back of the net again as Huntington North pulled away late.
Allie Egolf, Ely Mobley, and Delaney Harshman battled hard through the middle of the field, while Ava Sautter, Rachel Eberly, Mackenna Bolinger, and Hayden Krom worked the outside and helped create opportunities going forward. Raimi Vawter, Aeryn Klose, and Sautter put together several dangerous attacks and were able to get quality looks at goal.
Defensively, Brooklynn Grimes, Kerrington Hearn, Jocelyn Young, Shiann Owens, and McKayla Dillon worked tirelessly against a strong Viking attack. Cora Brown and Brooklynn Grimes also put in hard work in goal, making saves and shutting down as many opportunities as possible.
