Squires/Norse/Knights XC At Maconaquah

The Manchester, Northfield and Southwood cross country teams ran in the Maconaquah Invite Saturday.

The Manchester girls team finished 3rd, just 2 points behind 2nd place. Emersyn Sarber (13th), Lilly Miller (14th), and Tenley Metzger (15th) raced together as a strong pack. Ainsley Metzger (22nd) and Ashley Angle (52nd) rounded out the scoring 5.

The Manchester boys team finished 4th behind very strong teams in Northwestern, McCutcheon, and Western. Oliver Fitzpatrick (10th), Jet Thomas (26th), and Gabe Selleck (36th) were the top 3 Squires. Sam Macias and Ezra Hendricks ran big PRs and rounded out the top 5. The Squires raced tough and had all 14 guys under 23:15.

The Lady Norse ran a most awesome race Saturday at the Maconaquah Invite. Kaleigh Rice placed 2nd overall with a time of 20:02, Sheila Smith placed 11th overall in 21:48 and Bristal Foust placed 44th out of 99 runners in a time of 25:55.

Northfield boys placed 7th overall in the Maconaquah Invite on Saturday. Leading the Norse was Preston Moore in 25th place and a time of 18:25 followed by Kourtland Pratt in 18:48, Jacob Nesler in 19:57, Ethan Hoover in 20:40, Gavin Lester in 22:18, Nate Hodson in 22:19, Logan Roark in 24:50 and Ray Swick in 31:45. All the boys ran a great race with Kourtland, Jacob, Ethan, Nate, Logan and Ray getting their season PR’s.

The Southwood girls cross country team continued to show progress Saturday, highlighted by another outstanding performance from freshman Ava Stouffer and a significant personal record from sophomore Grace Ranck.

Stouffer once again led the Knights, finishing 1st overall in a field of 99 runners with an impressive time of 19:45.06. The freshman not only earned her first overall victory of the season, but also broke the 20-minute barrier for the first time. Her time was more than 31 seconds faster than her previous personal record of 20:16.1 set just one week earlier.

Paige Nelson also turned in a strong performance, finishing 24th overall in 23:34.24 (Season Best), while Elliana Simpson placed 73rd in 29:27.93. Olivia Ranck finished 78th in 30:41.23.

Another highlight came from Grace Ranck, who continued her improvement with a new personal record of 31:56.80. Grace dropped nearly 29 seconds from her previous best of 32:25.7, marking another encouraging step forward for the sophomore.

Jericho Corn led the Knights, finishing 91st overall in 22:39.32, giving a Season Best effort. He was followed by Andrew Wright, who placed 96th in 23:02.56 and also set a Season Best time.

Bentley Hawkins finished 112th in 26:50.97, while Jacob Andrews rounded out the Southwood runners in 115th with a Personal Record of 27:28.58.

Northfield middle school cross country teams ran at Maconaquah Saturday, the girls team placed 3rd over all while the boys’ team placed 8th overall.
Audrey Hawkens placed 3rd overall with a time of 12:12 followed by Macie Whiteman in 10th place in 12:37, Brynley Rice in 12:58, Kailynn Beeks in 13:35, Kenzie Dietrich in 14:59, Emma Steller in 16:25 and Faye Leffert in 17:35. Great race ran by all the girls- Congrats to all the girls on receiving season PR’s!
In the boys’ race- Hudson Texeira finished 4th overall in a time of 10:51, Gabriel Hyden followed in 9th place with a time of 11:22, James Nesler in 13:14, Bryson Sanders in 15:41, Braylon Frieden in 16:44 and Carson McClure in 18:13.
