The Manchester Lady Squires celebrated Senior Night with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over the Maconaquah Lady Braves.
Manchester got off to a bit of a shaky start, but the Squires eventually settled in and began to take control of the match. Aeryn Klose broke through first, finding the back of the net off a great assist from Rachel Eberly to put Manchester up 1-0. Shortly after, Klose helped create another scoring opportunity, this time finding Ava Sautter, who finished the attack to give the Squires a 2-0 advantage heading into halftime.
Manchester continued to battle and possess the ball well throughout the match. Raimi Vawter, Ava Sautter, and Aeryn Klose kept constant pressure on the Maconaquah defense and created several dangerous attacks. Allie Egolf, Ely Mobley, Delaney Harshman, Rachel Eberly, Hayden Krom, and Mackenna Bolinger worked hard through the middle, battling for possession, connecting passes, and helping control the pace of the game.
Defensively, Kerrington Hearn, Brooklynn Grimes, McKayla Dillon, and Elizabeth Reyes Mata held strong on the back line, repeatedly shutting down the Braves’ attacks. Maconaquah was able to find the net once, but the Squires stayed composed and battled through the final whistle to secure the 2-1 victory.
The night was made even more special as Manchester honored its four seniors: Allie Egolf, Ava Sautter, Ariah Dillon, and Elizabeth Reyes Mata. Each of these young women has made her own unique impact on Lady Squire Soccer through her leadership, commitment, and character. More importantly, they are an incredible group of young women who have represented this program well. We are so thankful for everything they have given to Manchester Women’s Soccer and proud to have them forever be a part of our Squire family.
