Results from Maconaquah for Thursday, September 24th
The Lady Braves were in Manchester Thursday for a TRC match up with the Lady Squires. After having control and winning the first two sets (25-19, 25-15)with solid serving, passing, and net play, the Braves faltered and Manchester picked up their play to take the third set 18-25. A close and hard fought fourth set saw the Braves fight off multiple set points to take the match 29-27. Both teams got tight towards the end but it was a well played and competitive match. I was really proud of our girls as they showed great fortitude to pull out the conference win. The JV Braves fell in two sets 19-25, 17-25. They were led by Ava Shively with six kills and Addie Korba with six digs
The Alpha Connection was rolling tonight as Ireland Kile slammed 19 kills from Setter Delaney Betzner. Kile also had five blocks and 11 digs playing all around. Betzner was dealing and dished 44 assists and dug up 14 balls on defense. Fellow Senior Kasey Murry also had 14 digs, and floored 11 kills and three blocks. Both Murry and OH Lucee Jernagan came up huge for the Braves. Jernagan tallied nine kills from the front row. Freshman Bailei Boggs added four kills and two blocks from the Middle Hitter position. Opposite Hitter Aubrey Kaiser had three kills, two blocks, 11 digs, and a team high five aces. Libero Naomi Cook saved 12 rallies with a dig playing in the back row.
The Braves move to 19-7 and 6-1 in the TRC on the year. We have four matches left in the regular season. The Lady Braves are back in action Tuesday at Whitko.
