Cordes Places 14th At Cross Country State Finals

Teresina Cordes capped off an incredible cross country season Saturday at the IHSAA State Cross Country Finals.

Her efforts led to her earning 14th place overall with a time of 17:42.4 (tying her PR) and securing prestigious All-State honors.

Cordes opened the race with a fast first mile, establishing herself among the state’s top competitors. As she moved into the second mile, she broke away from the larger crowd and settled into a competitive top pack, positioning herself for a strong finish. The final mile became a true display of determination and heart. With everything she had left, Cordes charged toward the finish line, delivering an impressive finishing kick and crossing the line in 17:42.4.

Cordes was the first girl in Wabash cross country history to qualify for State

Junior Kamden Oswalt and Senior James Unger represented the Apaches, the first time Wabash had two individual qualifiers in the same year. After a blistering race which led to a new course record of 14:34 by Calvin Seitz, Kam and James found themselves finishing in top 50% of the field. James finished in 119th place and Kam in 138th.
