Manchester Tennis Falls To Bluffton

Much like their trip to Bluffton 10 days earlier at the Tigers’ invitational, the Manchester boys tennis team couldn’t take advantage of early leads in their regular season dual match Tuesday night, Sept. 3, coming up short, 3-2.

Owen Harshman was first off the court losing his match at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0.

Meanwhile, Manchester won the first set in the three of the final four matches.

The No. 2 doubles team of Milo Hupp and AJ Weaver cruised to a 6-1 first set win before losing 12 of the final 13 games in a 1-6, 6-1, 6-0 loss.

The No. 1 doubles team of Cole Henderson and Connor Trump avenged a loss from a week and a half earlier to pull out a 7-5, 6-3 win to cut deficit to 2-1.

Brendyn Mugford was next off the court, battling back from a 6-3 first-set loss to a 7-5, 6-1 win to tie the team score at 2-2.

Meanwhile, Caleb Struble-Hedstrom was in a fight for two sets, winning the first set, 6-3, and led 5-2 in the second. The wheels fell off for the No. 2 singles player as he dropped the second set, 7-5, and the third, 7-6.

The Squires drop to 2-4 on the season and turn around to face Tippeanoe Valley Wednesday, Sept. 4.
