Squires Pick Up First Win At Wabash

The Manchester football team took the short trip to Wabash Friday, defeating the Apaches 42-26.

The game started with a Noah Baldwin kickoff return for 80yds to give Wabash a 6-0 lead. The Squires would answer with 4:31 left in the quarter when Logan Eastgate scored from 1yd out to give Manchester a 7-6 lead. The Squires would then capitalize on a botched punt snap by the Apaches with Resto D’Andrea recovering the ball in the endzone and increase the Manchester lead to 14-6.

The Squires would score twice in the second quarter to grab a commanding 28-6 halftime lead. Dallas Martin would scamper 28yds for a score before Reiss Gaerte scored from 50yds out. The Apaches were driving right before the half before throwing and interception in the endzone.

Rex Moore would record the first score of the third quarter from 3yds out to make it 35-6 before Baldwin broke loose from 57yds away to make it 35-12. Wabash would mount another drive late in the quarter before a fumble picked up by Gaerte gave the Squires the ball on the Wabash 22.

Manchester would attempt a field goal a minute into the fourth that was no good before Mason Rooney picked off a pass and raced 26yds for a score to make it 42-12. Haiden McWhirt would get the Apaches back in the scoring column with 7:47 to play on a 6yd run before the final score of the game came on a McWhirt to Korbin Brumley 21yd pass play for the 42-26 final.
