Cross Country Sectional Results

All four county cross country teams participated in sectionals Saturday with several teams and individuals qualifying for next week’s regional.

The Wabash High School boys cross country team advanced to the regional for a 9th straight time behind a solid pack performance. Isaiah Cordes (3rd), Jace Bullins (6th), and Jonas Church (7th) led the initial charge. Ezra Church finished in 11th with the best performance of his life. Brett Shull finished in 20th place, Kasen Oswalt in 29th and Caidan Burchett in 55th. The Apaches will head to Huntington University for the regional this coming Saturday October 26th. Race time is 11:15 am

Northfield’s top 7 boys had great races today at Sectionals. Placing 28th over all was Eli Gahl in 18:06, Kourtland Pratt was shortly after Gahl in 18:47, Ryland Miller finished in 18:58, Preston Moore in 19:19, Tayten Barlow in 19:34, Blake Aderman in 20:05 and Nate Hodson in 20:26. Eli, Ryland, Preston, Tayten, Blake and Nate all ran a season PR. Eli, Kourtland and Ryland will be moving on to Regionals next Saturday in Huntington.

Lady Norse had a good race at Sectionals today. Kaleigh Rice finished 8th over all in 19:17, Teagan Baer ran 21:55 placing 32nd, Ali Copeland ran 22:12 placing 37th, Olia Leffert ran a 27:02 finishing out the Lady Norse. Kaleigh and Olia had PR’s for the season. Kaleigh, Teagan and Ali will run in Huntington for Regionals on Saturday.

The Manchester high school boys cross country team finished 4th at Sectional behind Warsaw, Wabash, and Columbia City to advance to Regional. Oliver Fitzpatrick (17:18), Gabe Selleck (17:47), and Jet Thomas (17:59) all ran career PRs to help the boys run a top 5 time average of 17:32. This is the fastest average in the last 20 years.

The Manchester high school girls cross country team finished 5th at Sectional behind Columbia City, Warsaw, Huntington North, and Plymouth to advance to Regional. Ayla Cashdollar broke her school record with a time of 18:38.9 to finish 3rd place overall. Rachel Steely (21:08), Aubrey Carroll (22:52), Hannah Music (24:43), and Shelby Cahill (27:32) all ran career PRs.
