Second Half Struggles Cost Lady Knights

A strong second half by North Miami was too much for Southwood as the Lady Knights fell to the Warriors 64-48 Saturday.

Southwood trailed 14-10 after the first quarter and had the game tied 19-19 at the half before North Miami ran away in the second half. North Miami was leading 12-4 in the first quarter before the Knights scored six straight off buckets from Hailey Collins, Lola Winer and Hali Pershing.

Southwood would grab their first lead of the game early in the second when Gracie Lambert drained a three and was followed by a Pershing bucket for a 15-14 lead. Down 19-17 Aaliyah Bussard hit two free throws to tie the score at the half.

Lambert would hit to start the third quarter and give the Knights a 21-19 lead before North Miami scored 13 straight to grab a 32-21 lead. Pershing and Lambert would cut the deficit to 32-26 before the Warriors led 41-29 after three.

Alivia Pershing scored the first points of the fourth before North Miami opened their lead to 48-31. The Lady Knights could never close the gap again in the fourth, falling 64-48.

The Southwood junior varsity fell to North Miami 32-30.
