Results from Lewis Cass for Thursday, April 17th
Lewis Cass posted their closest victory since April 22, 2024 on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Carroll Cougars, sneaking past 8-7. This was payback for the Kings, who suffered an 8-6 loss the last time these two teams met.
The team relied heavily on Laney Davis, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kami Silcox, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Lewis Cass was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Carroll only posted a batting average of .200.
The win got Lewis Cass back to even at 1-1. As for Carroll, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
Coming up, Lewis Cass will look to defend their home field on Monday the 14th against Caston at 5:30 p.m.

The Lewis Cass Kings softball nipped the visiting Caston Comets, 13-12 in Monday’s non-league contest.
The Comets came out on fire, plating 18 batters in the first 2 innings while scoring 9 runs. The Lady Kings came out flat, plating only 9 batters in the first 2 innings, scoring just 3.
At the end of 5 innings, the Lady Kings made a come back, and at the end of 5, the score was 12-10 Comets. At the end of regulation, the Lady Kings made a full comeback and tied it 12.
In the extra inning, the Comets went 3 up 3 down. The Lady Kings got a single, and then capitalize on a Comets error to score the winning run.
The Kings now sport a 2-1 record. They will travel to Winamac to face the Warriors on Friday, April 17.

The Lady Kings made their first trip away from home to face the 7th ranked Winamac Warriors.
The Lady Kings struggled the first 5 innings, falling behind 7 to 1. However, the last two innings the Lady Kings outscored the Warriors 4 to 0. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough as the Lady Kings fall 5 to 7.
The Lady Kings (2-2) travel to face the Frontier Falcons (0-6) in a double header on Saturday.
