The Manchester girls varsity soccer team battled a strong Oak Hill team that ended in a tie 1-1 Thursday.
Right from the start, Elin Betten sent the ball up the field to Samantha Shock who dribbled around the defense and sunk a shot in the back corner of the net. Up 1-0, the Lady Squires fought defensively the rest of the game.
Maggie Onderko-White, Chase Blevins, Ane Hasund, Brooklynn Grimes, and Olivia Stevens set up a tough defensive line that held for over 60 minutes of play. Oak Hill found the net on a through ball with 20 minutes left to go in the game. Allie Egolf, Elin Betten, Samantha Shock, Jo Eberly, Ely Mobley, McKayla Dillon, and Jocelyn Young all battled strong the entire game in the midfield playing both ends of the field. The Lady Squires had other great scoring opportunities throughout the game from Ava Sautter, Jo Eberly, Samantha Shock, and Raimi Vawter. Shiann Owens had 7 big saves in the net.
