Lady Knights Run Well At Marion

The Southwood girls cross country team had a solid performance at the Marion Invitational hosted at Indiana Wesleyan University Saturday, finishing 7th out of 15 complete teams.

eading the way for the Lady Knights, Paige Nelson placed 20th with a season-best time of 21:45.3. Hailey Collins followed close behind, earning 26th with another season best of 22:16.5. Andrea Widemon ran a strong race, setting a new personal best of 22:39.6 for 32nd place. Elin Tyson had a breakthrough day, dropping over a minute off her best to clock 23:01.0, her fastest time this season. Olivia Ranck rounded out the scoring with a solid effort in 108th place.

Also competing, Grace Ranck turned in a great performance, cutting more than a minute off her previous best to finish in 33:17.8.

On the Boys’ Team, Andrew Wright led the way for the Knights, placing 122nd in 22:23.4. Despite fighting through illness, Jericho Corn showed grit, crossing the line in 23:31.3 for 135th. Blake Henderson continued his steady progress, setting a new personal best of 23:07.9 and placing 132nd, shaving several seconds off his previous best. The Knights are showing determination and improvement each week as they build toward the heart of the season
