Results from Maconaquah for Thursday, September 11th
The team failed to terminate the Northfield servers and lost 4-25 in Game 1. Stepping up to the challenge in Game 2, the scoring bounced back and forth between the teams with Northfield taking the Match 24-25 for the win. Adela Houlihan had 8 service points with 4 aces. Dena Salazar had 3 service points with all 3 being aces and 2 spike kills. Eden Davis added an ace and Hattie Hatcher added a tip kill.
Braves volleyball over Northwestern in 3 sets
The Lady Braves moved to 12-2 and 4-0 after downing Northwestern 25-9, 25-21, 25-22. Maconaquah started strong building a big lead at the beginning of the match and was able finish off the first set comfortably. After controlling the first set the Braves had to fight off the Tigers scrappiness to win set two. We were able to stay in control of the third set throughout and finish the sweep.
Ireland Kile and Kasey Murry led the Brave’s offense with eight kills each. Nekane Hernandez downed six balls and Sanne Vermeer added five kills for the Braves. Delaney Betzner passed out 17 assists and Averie Maiben had eight assists from our setter spots. Our defense was well rounded with four players in double figures in digs. Ireland Kile had 15 digs to lead the Brave defense. Betzner dug up 13 balls and Nekane Hernandez added 11 digs. Averie Maiben tallied 10 digs from the back row.
