
Strong pack running allowed the Wabash High School boys cross country team to win their 9th consecutive Apache Invitational at the city park Tuesday evening.
Isaiah Cordes, Caidan Burchett, Ezra Church and Kamden Oswalt finished 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th to lead the front of the pack. Landen Fisher and Maverick Sommers finished 19th and 21st to secure the victory. The Apaches scored 27 points. 2nd place Lewis Cass scored 42, 3rd place Northfield scored 55. Rochester and Whitko had incomplete teams.
Leading Northfield was Preston Moore and Bode Sorg placing 9th and 10th, followed by Kourtland Pratt in 11th, Alvero Gil in 12th, Tayten Barlow in 13th, Ethan Hoover in 14th and Xavier Roark in 15th. Nate Hodson, Jacob Nesler, Gavin Lester and Ashton Aderman rounded out our team through the finish line.
First for the team was Mya Golliher who came in with a time of 22:02 and snagging 2nd place. The next Apache in was Mia Fairchild with a time of 22:08 and taking 3rd place. Next up was Haylee Friend, with a time of 25:59 in 7th place. Fighting for a strong finish was Emma Cantrell with a time of 26:33, and placing 9th overall. Completing the team score was Maya Howard with a time of 27:30 and taking 15th place overall.
Lady Norse made the best of the race and place Kaleigh Rice and Alyssa Schnepp in 1st and 10th overall. Olia Leffert and Sheila Smith followed Schnepp across the line in 11th and 12th place.
