The Manchester Lady Squires soccer team secured a hard-earned 1-0 victory over the Peru Tigers Wednesday.
Ava Sautter netted the only goal of the game, finishing a beautiful assist from Elin Betten to give Manchester the lead. Olivia Stevens, Ana Hasund, Brooklyn Grimes, and Chase Blevins played a great game holding the defensive line and keeping the Tigers off the scoreboard for the full 80 minutes.
In the midfield, Allie Egolf and Elin Betten controlled the pace of play, winning key battles and distributing the ball effectively. On the outside, Jocelyn Young, Joanna Eberly, Ely Mobley, and McKayla Dillion worked well creating space and pushing the attack forward. Manchester generated several breakaway opportunities and quality looks at goal throughout the game but were unable to capitalize further. The Lady Squires’ collective effort and strong defensive performance sealed the shutout victory.
