Results from Maconaquah for Thursday, October 16th
The Lady Braves were host to the Northwestern Tigers Thursday in Sectional play. We were able to get a strong start and control the match throughout to win 25-11, 25-11, 25-13. Some long service runs allowed our girls to play relaxed and confident and put the match away in three sets. We had strong play at the net and some good defense in our first round match and that will need to continue as we move forward to Saturday and a battle with Western.
Ireland Kile led the attack with 12 kills and five blocks. Our Outside Hitters Kasey Murry and Nekane Hernandez both downed six kills. Setters Delaney Betzner and Averie Maiben had 16 and six assists respectively. The setters did a nice job running an efficient offense that had few errors. Our hitters were in a good position all night to hit effective shots. The defense was led by Libero Addie Maiben with 13 digs, and Defensive Specialist Aubrey Kaiser saved 12 rallies with a dig. Averie Maiben served five aces to lead the Braves. Aubrey, Delaney, and Nekane all had three service aces a piece.
We play host to Western in the second match Saturday at approximately 12:30. The winners of the first two matches play for the Championship at 6:00 PM Saturday night.
