Results from Maconaquah for Thursday, December 4th
The Lady Braves traveled to Wabash to face the 11th-ranked (1A) Northfield Lady Norse in a TRC matchup. The Norse entered the game with a 4-2 record.
First Quarter:
The Lady Braves started strong with three 3-pointers from Ireland Kile, Addie Maiben, and Averie Maiben. Kile scored 8 of her game-high 25 points in this quarter. Defensively, the Lady Braves effectively prevented the taller Norse team from getting comfortable, ending the quarter with a 17-12 lead.
Second Quarter:
The Lady Norse responded by hitting three 3-pointers, including a half-court shot at the buzzer. The Lady Braves scored 10 points, with contributions from Ireland Kile, Delaney Betzner, and Aubrey Kaiser, but the Lady Norse scored 15, tying the game at 27-27 at halftime.
Halftime Adjustments:
During the break, the Lady Braves focused on improving defense and rebounding. This strategy paid off as they outscored the Lady Norse 24-12 in the third quarter. Kasey Murry played a crucial role in defending Baer, who was held to 5 points after scoring 13 in the first half. Delaney Betzner also contributed defensively. Betzner hit three 3-pointers, while Ireland Kile, Aubrey Kaiser, and Kasey Murry added points, ending the quarter with a 51-39 lead.
Final Quarter:
The Lady Braves maintained control with ball handling and timely free throws. Ireland Kile scored all 5 points for the team in this quarter. Despite the Lady Norse capitalizing on turnovers to close the gap, the Lady Braves managed the pressure and secured a TRC victory.
Next Game:
The Lady Braves will play this Saturday, December 6, at Eastern in the annual “Cookie Cup” game. The JV game begins at 12:00 pm, followed by the varsity game. This will be the 10th game in the “Cookie Cup” series, with the Lady Braves leading 5-4 and winning the last four consecutive games.
