The Southwood volleyball team defeated Eastern 25-5, 25-9, 25-16 Tuesday.
The VolleyKnights jumped on the Comets right from the start, getting kills from Brooke Farr and Hali Pershing to grab a 7-3 lead. Southwood would outscore Eastern 12-1 for a 19-4 lead with Taylor Haecker and Jensen Kroft dominating at the net. Haecker, Shania Rhamy and Kroft would all record kills during the run. Presley Kroft controlled the back row, throwing back anything Eastern had to offer. Rhamy would record three kills down the stretch for the 25-5 win.
Eastern would battle the Knights early in the second set with Southwood leading just 8-5 when the run came. Adi Deaton was recording assist and blocks while Pershing, Rhamy and Kroft pounded away during a 10-0 run to make it 18-5. The Knights went on to capture the second set 25-9.
It was more of the same in the third set with some rotation changes as the Knights cruised to a 25-16 win and a 3-0 sweep.
