Lady Squires Win At Peru

The Manchester girls soccer team traveled to Peru Wednesday to take on the Lady Tigers and came home with a 7-0 victory.

The Lady Squires came out strong from the opening whistle, connecting passes, creating quality looks at goal, and controlling possession. Manchester’s offensive pressure paid off quickly as the Squires found the back of the net four times in the first half to take a 4-0 lead into halftime.

Manchester controlled the pace throughout the night, possessing the ball for the majority of the game and keeping much of the action in its offensive half. The Squires continued to move the ball well, work together, and create scoring opportunities.

The momentum continued into the second half as Manchester added three more goals to secure the 7-0 win.

While the offense kept the pressure on, the Manchester defense made sure Peru never had an opportunity to get back into the game. Ely Mobley, McKayla Dillon, Kerrington Hearn, Brooklynn Grimes, and Elizabeth Reyes held strong on the back line, shutting down the Tigers and keeping them off the scoreboard. Shiann Owens protected the net and completed the shutout for the Squires.

Manchester received contributions from all over the field offensively. Raimi Vawter finished with two goals, Elin Betten added a goal, Rachel Eberly recorded two goals and an assist, and Ava Sautter added two goals and an assist. Aeryn Klose and Mackenna Bolinger each contributed an assist.
