Knights Struggle Against Huntington
The Southwood Knights played host to 4A Huntington North Friday, falling to the Vikings 56-27.
The Knights would hang with the Vikings the first quarter. Huntington would get the first bucket of the game before a Dallas Holmes bucket tied the score. Holmes would score all 11 points for Southwood in the quarter. Holmes would answer every Huntington bucket, the last being a three to make it 12-11 before the Vikings scored the last three points of the quarter and led 15-11 after one.
Huntington would score the first 7 points of the second quarter to open a 22-11 lead when Carson Rich took over where Holmes left off. Rich would score the first 8 points for the Knights in the quarter, including starting a 5-0 run that closed the deficit to 30-21. Huntington led 32-21 at the half.
Again the Vikings would come out dominate to start a quarter, scoring the first 7 of the third quarter before Gabe Lloyd stopped the run. A Holmes bucket would make it 42-25 before Huntington score the last four points of the quarter and led 46-25 after three.
The Vikings would out score the Knights 10-2 in the fourth with the lone Southwood points coming on a Rich bucket.
