The Manchester Squires played host to Wawasee Friday, defeating the Warriors 39-28.

Once again the Manchester defense was stifling, holding the visitors to just 28 points. Two players would carry the load for the Squires in the first quarter. Manchester led 10-9 after the first stop. Brayden Casper had three buckets with Thane Creager adding two.

Wawasee would even the score in the second quarter to tie the game 17-17 at the half. Manchester scored just 7 points with Weston Hamby draining a three and had five points.

The Manchester defense was the key in the second half, allowing just 11 points in the half. Hamby would hit three times in the third with Kam Lester and Casper each adding a bucket.

The Squires would be forced to hit free throws in the fourth and did just that. Caleb Stout would add a long ball while Hamby got the other bucket.

Scoring : Casper 12, Lester 7, Hamby 13, Creager 4, Stout 3.

Coach Underwood ”Great win for us tonight. Only 5 turnovers for the game and nobody had more than 1. Brayden Casper led us in rebounding for the 2nd straight game with 8. He is now averaging 10.5 rpg after 2 games. We have a double header this coming weekend. We are at 4A Dekalb on Friday and return home to take on 3A Gary Lighthouse CPA on Saturday”.
