Norse Fall To #7 Tipton

The Northfield boys basketball team opened the season Friday hosting 2A, #7 Tipton, falling to the Blue Devils 64-32.

The Norse trailed 17-8 after the first stop and 35-14 at the half before being out scored 29-18 in the second half.

Leading the way was Nate Drancik with 11 points, all in the second half. Clayton Tomlinson and Jarret Shafer each had 5 points. Leading us in rebounding was Drancik and Graydon Holmes who each had three. Eight different players recorded assists with Daniel Driscoll leading with 2. Jared Peas led the team with 5 steals and Holmes had two blocks.

Coach Brewer ”The final score was probably not indicative of the game itself. Tipton is ranked #7 in 2A and has aspirations of Final Four. We forced 23 turnovers on the Blue Devils and only had 16 ourselves, however, converting the turnovers to points was problematic. We shot just 32% from the field”.

Northfield will play at Canterbury Wednesday.
