Norse Fall To Peru
The Northfield Norsemen showed some improvement Saturday before falling to Peru 63-49.
The Tigers would jump out to a quick 8-0 lead on back to back three pointers from DJ Fuller and a bucket from Michael Chandler before Logan Peas and Nate Drancik made it 8-4. Jared Peas would come off the bench, giving the Norse a spark hitting two buckets to make the score 13-11 before two Treyden Curtis free throws made it 15-11 after one.
The Norse would get a bucket from Logan Peas to start the second quarter before the Tigers went on a 10-0 run. Fuller, Curtis and Josh Adejokun did the damage as Peru led 25-14. Jarrett Shafer would stop the run with a long ball, with Jared Peas hitting before a Clayton Tomlinson three to cut the Tigers lead to 27-22. Curtis would then hit for the third time in the quarter, followed by two Duante Majors free throws before a Logan Peas bucket ended the scoring in the quarter with Peru leading 31-24 at the half.
The Tigers would get a little breathing room in the third, scoring 10 of the first 13 points of the quarter. Adejokun led the way with 6 points in the quarter for Peru with Drancik and Tomlinson each hitting a three for the Norse. Peru led 46-33 with a quarter to go.
Peru would come out swinging to start the fourth quarter, scoring 7 straight to build a 53-33 lead before Cole Rosen and Peas made it 53-39. The Tigers would hit 8 free throws in the quarter to prevent a comeback.
