The Northfield Lady Norse left little doubt who was the favorite in sectional 54 as they opened the tournament with a 79-34 win over Clinton Central Thursday.
Ariel Dale would kick off the game with a three from the corner, followed by a Kyra Kennedy layup for a 5-0 lead before the Bulldogs made it 5-4. From that point it was lights out as Kelcie Thomson drained a three that started an 8-0 run for a 13-4 lead. up 13-6 Dale would hit her second long ball as the Norse ran off 10 straight to open a 23-6 lead before leading 25-9 after the first quarter.
The second quarter started a little slow before Thomson got things going. The Norse would get two buckets from Ally Keaffaber, one being a three as the lead grew to 38-13. Dale would add a three as Northfield led 41-18 at the half.
All five starters would get on the board in the third quarter. Addi Baker chipped in 5 points in the quarter while Keaffaber and Thomson hit long balls. Northfield led 62-31 after three.
The Lady Norse would score the first 15 points of the fourth quarter as Emma Hoover got hot,scoring 7 points. Abbey Ross would toss in two buckets while Kearston Stout added a deuce as the Norse rolled 79-34.
