The Northfield baseball team scored 7 runs the first two innings before falling to Blackhawk Christian 16-8 Tuesday.
After giving up a run in the top of the first the Norse would strike for 4 runs in the bottom of the inning. With one out Clayton Tomlinson and Nate Drancik would single before a Braden Ripplinger single scored Tomlinson and Drancik. Jarrett Shafer would follow with a single to put runners on the corners. Ripplinger would then score on a passed ball for a 3-1 lead before Shafer did the same to lead 4-1.
The Norse would tack on three more runs in the second. Michael Fisher would reach on an error and was followed by Cole Rosen being hit by a pitch. A Tomlinson single would load the bases before a Ripplinger one out single scored Rosen and Tomlinson for a 6-1 lead. The final run came when Gage Watkins reached on an error that scored Drancik.
The Norse led 8-4 after three innings after giving up 4 runs in the third. Blackhawk would then score 5 runs in the fourth, 5 runs in the fifth and a run in the sixth for the 16-8 final.
