On a cool, breezy evening the Southwood lady Knights bats were red hot. The Knights collected 17 hits in a 14-5 win at Southern Wells Thursday.
Southwood set the tone in the first inning, plating 5 runs. The Knights had three hits in the inning while taking advantage of two walk and an error.
The Knights would tack on two more runs in the second off and rbi single from Tabitha Thomas and a sac fly from Keagan Simpson to lead 7-1.
Southwood would increase their lead to 10-2 in the fourth. Keagan Simpson would drive home Ashley Smith before a Kayla Mays double cleared the bases. Southern Wells would cut the lead to 10-5 in the bottom of the inning.
In the fifth Kassity Simpson would score on a Smith ground out to make it 11-5.
Southwood would tack on three insurance runs in the seventh. Kassity Simpson would be hit by a pitch and score on a Makenna Pace double before Pace scored on a Thomas single for a 13-5. Thomas would then tag up and score on a Keagan Simpson line out for the 14-5 score. Southern Wells scored a run in the bottom of the inning for the 14-6 final.
