The Wabash Apaches trailed 1-0 after the first inning Friday before scoring in the next three innings and defeating Marion 5-2.
Marion scored a run in the first to grab the lead before the Apaches got even in the second. Payton Sodervick would lead off with a single before Joe Leland was hit by a pitch. Kaleb Gidley would then lay down a bunt single to load the bases before Sodervick scored on a passed ball. Marion would get out of the jam with a tie.
Wabash would grab the lead in the third. Kaleb Kelsheimer and Robert Irgang drew back to back walks before advancing to second and third on a fielders choice. A Sodervick single would score Kelsheimer for a 2-1 lead.
In the fourth Jasper Walter would reach on an error before stealing second. Bryant Boggs would follow being hit by a pitch. Kelsheimer would then drive home Walter with a double to make it 3-1. Irgand followed with an rbi single as the lead grew to 4-1. Kelsheimer would score the final run of the inning to lead 5-1.
Marion would plate a run in the fifth as the pitching tandem of Trenton Daughtry and Joe Leland held the Giants at bay for the 5-2 win.
