The Southwood Knights won a slug fest at Mississinewa Friday, defeating the Indians 13-10.
The Knights out hit the Indians 12-9. Carson Rich led the attack with 3 hits.
Southwood grabbed the lead in the first when Logan Barley was hit by a pitch with two outs. Cam Ball followed with a single before Tristin Hayslett was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Alex Farr would then single home Barley to lead 1-0. Mississinewa would tie the score in the bottom of the inning.
The Knights would get doubles from Koby Thomas and Mason Yentes in the second, plus a single from Rich to score three times before the Indians answered with five runs to lead the Knights 6-4 after two.
Southwood trailed 8-4 heading to the fourth when they exploded for 6 runs to take the lead. Joey Bland led off with a double and was followed by Yentes being hit by a pitch. Rich would then single to right, scoring Bland to make it 8-5. With one out Yentes would score on a wild pitch before Ball drew a walk. Hayslett would then single home both runners to make it 8-8. Farr would follow reaching on an error before a Gabe Lloyd infield single loaded the bases. With two outs Bland would single home Hayslett and Farr for a 10-8 lead.
The Knights would tack on another run in the fifth. Rich would lead off with a double before scoring on a Ball ground out. Southwood led 11-8. Mississinewa would answer with arun in the bottom of the inning to make it 11-9.
In the seventh Yentes would lead off reaching on an error and was followed by a Rich single. Barley would then double home both runners to lead 13-9. The Indians would score one run in the bottom of the inning as the Knights held on for the 13-10 win.
