The Wabash Apaches were out hit by Peru Monday, but managed to plate one more run in a 4-3 win over the Tigers.
Peru would grab a 1-0 lead in the first. Duante Majors would single and was moved to second on a sac bunt. With two outs a Kade Townsend double would score Majors for a 1-0 lead.
Wabash would grab the lead in the second. With one out Blake Gribben would draw a walk and was followed by a Payton Sodervick walk. Jordan Booth would follow with a base on balls to load the bases. With two outs Bryant Boggs would walk to force home Gribben for a 1-1 score. Trenton Daughtry would follow with an infield single with Sodervick crossing the plate for a 2-1 lead.
The Apaches would tack on a run in the third. Kallen Kelsheimer led off with a walk. With two outs a Sodervick single scored Kelsheimer to lead 3-1.
Peru would cut the deficit in the fourth. With two outs Jonah Huppenthal would single and was followed by a Majors walk. Blake Edwards would then be hit by a pitch before Huppenthal scored on a balk to make it 3-2. Wabash would answer in the bottom of the inning. Jasper Walter would walk before being sacrificed to second. Walter would then steal third and score on an arrant throw for a 4-2 lead.
Back came the Tigers in the fifth. Townsend would single before advancing to second on a fielders choice. With one out Pher Dicken would reach on an error with Townsend scoring for a 4-3 score. Gribben would lead off the bottom of the inning with a triple before a ground out and a double play got the Tigers out of the inning.
Peru would get a one out double by Townsend in the seventh, but couldn’t plate the tying run.
