The Southwood Knights grabbed a 5-1 lead before falling to Tippecanoe Valley 9-8 Monday.
The Knights jumped on the Vikings for 4 runs in the top of the first. Gabe Lloyd and Logan Barley singled before scoring on a Cam Ball single to lead 2-0. Alex Farr would then single home Ball for a 3-0 lead. With two outs, take your pick on which Rich singled to score Farr for a 4-0 lead. Valley would score a run in the bottom of the inning to make it 4-1.
The Knights would score a solo run in the second when Barley doubled home Mason Yentes to lead 5-1.
Valley would score 4 times in the third to tie the score 5-5 before the Knights grabbed the lead again in the fourth when Yentes scored on an error.
In the fifth Southwood got a run on a hard grounder from Rich that scored Farr to make it 7-5. Valley would tie the score in the bottom of the inning.
Back came the Knights in the sixth with Ball hitting a two out double before Jackson Simons scored on a wild pitch to make it 8-7. Valley again would tie the score in the bottom of the inning before holding the Knights in the seventh and scoring to defeat southwood 9-8.
