Spartans Garner Men’s & Women’s Outdoor Track & Field All-HCAC Team

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – After a strong, third-place team finish this past weekend at the 2019 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, the Manchester University men’s track team had seven student-athletes earn all-conference honors.

Samuel Barnard (Indianapolis, Ind. / Scecina Memorial) and the members of the 4-x-100 relay team were named Second Team All-HCAC. Barnard finished second in the 3000m-steeplechase with a time of 9:45.33. The 4-x-100 meter relay team of Austin Coughlin, Travis Murr, Harrison Hollis, and Zacariaous Presha placed second in a highly competitive field with a time of 43.40.

Both Daniel Baker (Okemos, Mich. / Okemos) and Alex Sanders (Kouts, Ind. / Kouts) garnered Honorable Mention All-HCAC honors after respective third-place finishes placed third in the 10,000m and pole vault. Baker crossed the finish line with a time of 32.34.67. Sanders cleared a height of 13′ 11 1/4″


Six Spartans Named to 2019 Women’s Outdoor Track & Field All-HCAC Team
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – After a strong, third-place team finish this past weekend at the 2019 Outdoor Track & Field Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships, the Manchester University women’s track team had six student-athletes earn all-conference honors.

Three Spartans landed on the All-HCAC First Team. Senior Laina Boggs (Frankfurt, Ind. / Frankfurt) was a first team honoree after winning the individual title in the shot put with a top throw of 40″ 1 1/4″ (12.22 meters). She also added a third-place finish in the javelin throw. Sophomore Tara Conley (Knox, Ind. / Knox) was also named First Team All-HCAC. She took home first-place in the discus with a top hurl of 127′ 0″ (38.70m). Rounding out the first team honors for the Spartans was junior Hannah Wappes (Columbia City, Ind. / Columbia City). Hannah won the 1500m with a time of 4:48.11, she also placed third in the 800m with a time of 2:23.24.

Three more Spartans earned spots on the All-HCAC Second Team. Senior Samina Qureshi (Columbia City, Ind. / Columbia City) placed second in the 5000m, crossing the finish line in 18:30.91. She also added a third-place finish in the 3000m steeplechase on Friday evening en route to a Second Team All-HCAC selection. Junior Ana Acevedo (Chesterton, Ind. / Chesterton) was also named to the All-HCAC Second Team after a runner-up finish in the 800m. Her time of 2:22.85 was just six tenths of a second behind Ellie Haland of Earlham. The final All-HCAC honoree for Manchester University was junior Austin Jones (Lapel, Ind. / Lapel). Jones had the second-best distance in the hammer throw at 152′ 1″ (46.35m)
