The southwood Lady Knights scored in every inning but one, defeating Rochester in a marathon 11-9 Wednesday.
Trailing 4-2 heading to the fourth the Knights bats got hot. With one out Erin McGouldrick would draw a walk before Brown reached on an error. With two outs Kassity Simpson would blast a three run shot to give the Knights a 5-4 lead and was followed by a Turner single. Makenna Pace would then double home Turner to lead 6-4. Pace would then score on a wild pitch for a 7-4 score.
Rochester would make it 7-6 in the top of the fifth before the Knights answered with 2 runs in the bottom of the inning. Kayla Mays would lead off with a walk and was followed by a McGouldrick walk. Brown would follow with a single to score Mays. Lambert and Simpson would both follow drawing walks before Turner reached on an error with Brown scoring for a 9-6 lead.
The Zebras would make it 9-8 in the sixth before Simpson and Mays drew walks in the bottom of the inning and scored on a McGouldrick single to lead 11-8.
Rochester would plate a solo run in the seventh as the Knights held on for the 11-9 win.
