The Southwood Lady Knights pounded out 12 hits, including a home run from Keagan Simpson in route to a 16-10 win over Bluffton Thursday.
The Knights wasted no time getting on the board, scoring three times in the first. Kassity Simpson would lead off with a single before scoring on a Makenna Pace single. Keagan Simpson would be hit by a pitch before Pace scored on a wild pitch. Keagan Simpson would also score on a wild pitch as the Knights led 3-0. Bluffton would get a solo run back in the bottom of the inning.
With one out in the second Makenlie Lambert, Kassity Simpson and Maddie Turner would draw walks to load the bases before a Pace single made it 5-1. Tabitha Thomas would follow with a double that increased the Knights lead to 7-1. The Tigers would answer with a grand slam in the bottom of the inning to make it 7-5.
Bluffton would tie the score in the third which would be the only inning the Knights did not score.
In the fourth Kassity Simpson would walk and was followed by a Turner single. With one out Thomas would reach on an error with Aaliyah Douglass scoring for an 8-7 score. Keagan Simpson would follow reaching on an error to score Turner to make it 9-7. Bluffton would answer with a run to make it 9-8.
In the fifth Brown would walk before scoring on a Kassity Simpson single. Keagan Simpson would score the final run of the inning for an 11-8 lead. Again Bluffton would answer with a solo run to make it 11-9.
In the sixth Keagan Simson would blast a two out shot over the left field fence to make it 12-9 before the Tigers made it 12-10 in the bottom of the inning.
The Knights were looking for an insurance run in the seventh and ended up getting four. Erin McGouldrick would lead off with a single. With one out after a Lambert sacrifice McGouldrick would score on a Kassity Simpson double. Simpson would then score on an error to make it 14-10. Turner would follow with a single before Pace hit a two run dinger for the 16-10 score.
