Manchester played their third match of the week playing host to previously #4 state ranked FW Carroll, falling 0-5.

Carroll will reenter the top 10 after soundly defeating #9 Homestead 5-0 earlier this week. “Compared to last year’s matchup in which we only won 4 games combined, today we stood toe to toe with a much better showing winning 13 games. I saw us belong on the same court showing grit, determination, and winning many points,” commented Manchester Coach Joel Eichenauer. At 1 singles Kelsey started hot and ended tough. Eichenauer (a bit fatigues from her nearly 3 hour match just 21 hours earlier) jumped out to a 2-1 lead. After dropping the set 2-6 and being down 1-5, Kelsey would hold serve for 2-5 and then break serve for 3-5 before Mia would win the final game. Like Eichenauer, Halle Briner (2 singles) would extend the match many points and games with a hard fought 1-6, 3-6 loss. Many games were pushed to deuce and long points showed athleticism and strategy from both players. Eva Bazzoni at 3 singles would only end with 1 game won, but she also pushed her opponent. “We matched their athleticism and were not an easy W for a top 10 team. Today was about learning, growing, and seeing how we measure up and what we want to become.” Anna Osborne and Halie Wampler loved hitting with their Lady Charger opponents. While many points were won by Manchester, the end score of 0-6,0-6 doesn’t reflect their effort and success. The longest match of the night belonged to the two doubles team of Rebekah Pyle and Morgan Stroud. Despite losing 1-6,2-6, the length of the match showed the quality play and long games played. “I was proud and impressed by our ladies play tonight. We are trending in the right direction here at season’s end.” The loss moves Manchester to 9-4 on the year. In JV play sister’s Sarah and Kayla Metzger won 8-5 while many others played their hearts out. The season continues with a Friday makeup match vs. Whitko beginning around 4:45 in Manchester. Monday Southwood wraps up the conference season for the 6-0 TRC Lady Squires.
