The Southwood Lady Knights scored four times in the top of the seventh before giving up two runs in the bottom of the inning in an 8-7 loss at Peru Monday.
Peru scored solo runs in the first and third to lead 2-0 before the Knights cut the deficit in half in the fourth. With two outs MaKenna Pace would triple and score on a Keagan Simpson single to make it 2-1.
The Knights would score 2 runs in the top of the sixth to grab a 3-2 lead. Kassity Simpson would lead off with a single and was followed by a Turner single. Pace would then ground out with Simpson scoring to tie the game. Tabitha Thomas would follow with a rbi fly out to give the Knights a 3-2 lead. Peru would respond with 4 runs in the bottom of the inning and tooka 6-3 lead.
Back came the Knights in the seventh. Kayla Mays led off with a single and was followed by a Douglass single. Erin McGouldrick would then reach on an error with Mays scoring to make it 6-4. With one out Kassity Simpson would reach on a fielders choice with Douglass crossing the plate for a 6-5 score with McGouldrick following to make it 6-6. Pace would follow with a double that scored Simpson to put Southwood up 7-6. Peru would rally in the bottom of the inning, scoring on a triple and a single before loading the bases and winning on a hit batter.
