The Wabash Middle School soccer team fell to Tippecanoe Valley 6-2 Monday.

Field conditions were poor at kick off and worsened as the game went on. Wabash had several good looks at goal in the first half, but was only able to hold the Vikings to 0-2 before halftime. At the start of the second half, Wabash came out strong with Solomon France finishing off a shot that was initially deflected by Tipp Valley defenders. The Viking defense couldn’t contain France, who’s third attempt found the back of the net in a nail biting attack inside the 18. With Tipp Valley’s defense weakened, Wabash’s Jacob France took advantage and connected off a driven shot from outside the 18 on an attack up the middle of the field. Despite this surge, and Wabash’s Hannah Layne racking up 14 incredible saves in goal on the night, Tipp Valley took over possession and outscored the Apaches 4-2, and finished the game 6-2. In extra play, Wabash’s Ricky Trejo completed a hat trick in 20 minutes, while the Apache’s defensive line led by keeper Isaac Byers and comprised of Elijah Leslie, Jack Jacoby, Will Galley and Ty Carpenter held the Vikings scoreless. Wabash finished that extra matchup victorious at 3-0. Wabash ended a successful season at 5-3. Congratulations to the Apache 8th graders who will be moving on to the HS program: Seth Blossom, Jacob France, Brodie Craft, Rylee Yoakum, Solomon France, Jacob Fuchs, Jack Jacoby, Devin Coffman, Hannah Layne and Kolton Wilson.
