Knights Clinch Share Of TRC At Peru

The Southwood Knights clinched a share of the TRC Friday, defeating Peru 6-4.

With the win Southwood finished 7-2 in conference play and tied with Rochester for the title.

Peru would score 2 runs in the first for a 2-0 lead before the Knights tied the score in the top of the third. Mason Yentes would lead off with a single and was followed by a Koby Thomas single. Logan Barley would then single home Yentes to make it 2-1. With one out Cam Ball singles home Thomas to make it 2-2. Peru would answer with a run in the bottom of the inning for a 3-2 lead.

In the fourth Alex Farr would tie the score with a lead off home run to center before again the Tigers answered and led 4-3 after four.

In the fifth Tristan Hayslett led off reaching on an error before Farr did the same with Hayslett scoring.

Yentes would lead off the sixth drawing a walk before Thomas reached on an error with Yentes racing home to give the Knights a 5-4 lead.

The Knights would tack on an insurance run in the seventh. With one out Hayslett would single before pinch runner Conner Rich would advance to third when Carson Rich singled. Farr would then hit a fly ball to right with Conner Rich tagging up and scoring. Hayslett would set down the Tigers in order in the bottom of the inning for the 6-4 win.
