The Wabash and Northfield baseball teams played in the Chris Rood Memorial Saturday at Wabash. Get all the highlights at 7m.
In game one, the Apaches fell to Fairfield 3-2, followed by Northfield falling to 3A, #8 Western 9-4.
Against Fairfield the Apaches scored single runs in the second and fourth to tie the score 2-2 before giving up the winning run in the sixth. Wabash had just 4 hits in the game, led by two from Payton Sodervick.
The Norse collected just three hits off Western. Northfield led 2-0 after the first inning before Western scored six unanswered runs. The Norse would plate 2 more runs in the sixth before falling 9-4. Clayton Tomlinson, Nate Drancik and Jarrett Shafer each had a hit with Drancik’s being a two run shot over the left field fence.
In the consolation game the Apaches defeated the Norse 5-1. The Norse grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first before the Apaches answered with one in the second, two in the third and two in the fifth.
James Booth led Wabash with three hits and 2 rbi’s. Bryant Boggs added 2 rbi’s. Payton Sodervick got the win on the mound.
The Norse had just two hits in the game. Clayton Tomlinson had a double and Cole Rosen a single. Tomlinson had the lone rbi.
