Wabash Boys Soccer Falls In Opener
The Wabash Apaches boys soccer team began their season Wednesday with a 3-0 loss to the Eastbrook Panthers.
With the last 2 years seeing the Apaches lose a collective 12-1 to a highly-respected opponent like Eastbrook, a 3-0 score line reflects the effort and intensity put out by the entire team.
The Apaches held the Panthers to a 1-0 halftime score line. With shots on goal by Mario Melendez, Sol France, and Roberto Ruiz, the Apaches were unable to unlock a stubborn Panther back line.
After a costly turnover in the defensive third allowed Eastbrook to pull ahead 2-0 in the middle of the second half, the Panthers notched their third goal on a wonderful shot with 90 seconds left in the match.
The Apaches immediately get to respond and continue their good form with a match at Mississinewa Thursday night.
