Lady Squires Soccer Wins Sectional Opener

The Manchester girls soccer team defeated Blackford 4-0 Tuesday in their opening game of sectional play.

Emma Garriott scored the first and second goals of the first half. The first was assisted by Haylie Miller. The Manchester defense played really well and shut down the offensive attacks. Lex Donathan, Torina Runkel, Kayla Metzger and Haley Clifford kept Blackford scoreless as Kindra Stetzel got the shut out with 5 saves.

Garriott scored quickly in the second half off a great pass from Haylie Miller before Gabbie Brewer finished off the night with a beautiful shot from outside the 18.

Emma Garriott scored 3 goals in the game making that 18 on the season and setting the single season scoring record for the women’s program.

Manchester Moves on and will play Eastbrook at Eastbrook on Thursday at 7:30.
