Southwood JH Splits With Rochester
The Southwood junior high football teams took on Rochester Tuesday,
Southwood 7th grade football showed some improvement in the last outing of the season while falling to Rochester 6-24.
The Knights kept their opponent from scoring in the first and third quarters showing some growth on defense. Leading the way for the Knights were Duke Sparks, Kasey Solomon, and Gabriel Mealy.
On the offense side Jacob Corn added positive yards each time he carried the ball, and Weston Greiner broke loose for a 45 yard scoring run in the 4th quarter.
The 8th Grade Knights closed out their season at 5-2 with a 28-20 comeback victory over the Rochester Zebras.
The Knights trailed 6-14 at half, but out scored the Zebras 22-6 in the second half.
Micah Smith showed up big with four touchdowns, running for 155 yards, passing for 69 yards. Also having a good offensive outings were Bryce Rigney with 74 yards rushing and Blayne Hamilton 39 yards receiving.
On defense the Knights were tested, but pulled together to secure the win.
