Lady Squires Fall From Sectional Tourney/Apaches Move To Championship

The Manchester girls soccer team fell to Eastbrook 4-0 in the second round of sectional play Thursday.

Kindra Stetzel has nine saves and played another tremendous game in goal. The loss is an end to a record season for the Manchester Lady Squires. The ladies finished 15-2 on the season and 5-0 in conference. Manchester graduates 7 seniors Bailey Mooney, Gabbie Brewer, Ranissa Shambarger, Addie Haecker, Haley Clifford, and Haylie Miller.

The Wabash Lady Apaches are advancing to a sectional championship after a 2-0 win over Whitko.

The Apaches worked great as a team moving the ball and keeping the pressure on offensively, but still remained scoreless at the half.

Two minutes into the 2nd half Benysh provided a perfectly placed corner kick, Davis then got her head on the ball to redirect it towards the goal and it was finished by Thomas. The Lady Apaches continued the pressure and found the back of the next with a beautiful goal by Benysh, assisted by Mattern.

Solid defense by Mallow, Gunderman, Boggs, Ballshmidt, O’Neil and Davis and shut-out in goal for Layne, who had 3 saves on the night.

The Lady Apaches will face Eastbrook at Eastbrook Saturday at 7pm.
