Lady Spartans Win At Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Manchester University women’s basketball team rode strong defense en route to a 60-48 non-conference victory at Kalamazoo College on Friday November 22.

The Spartans held the host Hornets scoreless in the second quarter, holding a 23-12 led at the intermission.

Manchester used balanced scoring to top the Hornets on Friday evening. Miranda Bieghler (Plainfield, Ind./Plainfield) scored a career-high 13 points in 26 minutes off the bench to lead the Spartans. Macy Miller (Huntertown, Ind./Carroll) added 10 points and eight rebounds. Freshman Hannah Lindsey (Speedway, Ind./Speedway) grabbed a career-best 15 redounds on Friday night. As a team, the Spartans totaled 45 rebounds.

Senior Haley Farris (Sharpsville, Ind./Triton) once again filled the stat sheet, finishing with nine points, six rebounds, four assists, and three steals.

Manchester’s defense forced 21 turnovers and held the Hornets to 31.6% (18-of-57) shooting from the field.

The Spartans improved to 2-2 on the season while Kalamazoo dropped to 1-3. The Spartans will be back in action on Saturday November 30 against Beloit. Tip-off from Stauffer-Wolfe Arena is scheduled for 1 p.m.
