Late Pin Seals Manchester Win
The Manchester wrestling team defeated Tippecanoe Valley 37-36 Thursday.
The Squires were able to pull out a huge victory on the road against a solid conference opponent. Several underclassmen wrestled their hearts out to secure the victory for the team. Junior Elijah Burlingame got a huge pin to start the night, followed by a first period pin from undefeated Sophomore Dylan Stroud. Tippy Valley bumped up a solid wrestler to avoid Stroud, but Freshman Zach France impressively outworked him to earn the victory and frustrate his opponent into a huge Flagrant Misconduct penalty. The Vikings rattled off 4 wins in a row, but Senior Ashton Moore got a pin to stop the bleeding, and both Sophomore Trevor Dill and Senior Bryce Kamphues gutted out crucial decisions. The final big victory of the night for the Squires came when Freshman 113 Brock Casper overcame an early 5-1 deficit to pin his opponent in the 3rd period! Overall the Squires wrestled very hard all night and looked to be in good shape against their opponents.
