Sweet Headed To Cross Country State

Southwood senior Braden Sweet is headed to the cross country state finals. Read about Sweet and other county runners that participated in the semi state Saturday.

Following a school record breaking performance at Regionals, Braden Sweet needed to finish in the top 10 individuals to advance on to the State Finals. Racing in a highly competitive class of runners, Braden finished 16th overall in a time of 16:08. His performance was a solid effort, finishing as the 8th individual, and allowing him to advance to the State Finals. Braden will compete next Saturday in Terre Haute, also known as Cross Country Town USA, at the Laverne-Gibson State Course at 3:00. There will be a live stream of the race, courtesy of the IHSAA.

The Wabash High School cross country team ended another successful season with a 12th place finish at semi-state, avenging loses to both Oak Hill and Huntington North from earlier in the tournament. This was the 4th consecutive season the Apaches advanced to the semi-state. Zack Reed finished in 41st, Dave Ford 48th, Jarret Wilson 62nd, Kaden Vogel 100th, Troy Guenin-Hodson 118th, Caelan McDougle 130th and Trevor Daughtry 159th. There were 190 runners in the race.

Northfield’s Andrew Burns also participated in the New Haven Semi State

The Manchester 2020 season came to an end today at the New Prairie Semi-State meet. Carter Bedke finished 18th place (just one place and one second) from qualifying for state. For Josie Briner and many of the boys, we are glad they gained this experience today for next year.
