Sutton Runs Knights Past Flying Jets


The Southwood Knights got an unforgettable second half performance from running back Elijah Sutton and two key interceptions to will themselves to a 28-14 sectional championship win at Adams Central Friday.

Adams Central would be the one to capitalize on a turn over in the first quarter and had the lone score leading 7-0.

With 3:22 left in the second Alex Farr and Carson Rich would hook up from 15yds out to make it 7-7 at the half.

Again the Flying Jets would grab the lead with 4:52 left in the third before Sutton broke loose just 13 seconds later on a 65yd run to pay dirt to make it 14-14.

The Knights would then take over in the fourth when Sutton scored from 20yds away to give the Knights their first lead of the night. The Flying Jets would then go to the air when Mason Yentes picked off a pass. Sutton, who had a career night then gave Southwood some breathing room, racing 67yds yards with 5:53 left to make it 28-14. Again Adams Central would go to the air and with 4:40 remaining Rich would intercept a pass to seal the 28-14 win.
